This award is named in honor of Rev. Joseph A. Kiefer, S.J., who taught Classics at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ from 1927 to 1951.
This award is presented to the graduating major who has exhibited outstanding scholastic achievement in the Classical languages.
The Miller Annual Summer Scholarship in Classical Archaeology provides funds ($4,000-$7,000) for up to two classics majors or minors at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ to attend a summer classical archaeology field school.
This fund was established in honor of Boleslav and Draga Povsic, whose love for the Classics extended throughout their life. The scholarship is intended to acknowledge their lifelong support, their dedication to their children, and their desire to encourage students and ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ to pursue a study of the classics and develop a lifelong love of the discipline. They stressed the importance of education and the study of the classics as the key to a better life and to understanding the diversity of humanity. The award supports summer research or travel for classics students.

The Robert Corrigan Award is presented to the graduating major who has exhibited outstanding scholastic achievement in Spanish. The award honors Dr. Corrigan, who taught Spanish at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ from 1949 to 1987.
