President Al Miciak recently announced changes to the university leadership team including the retirement of Sherri Crahen, who has served �Ӱ��̳ as Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs for nearly 20 years.

Following Crahen’s retirement in October, Naomi Sigg, who currently serves as Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, will take on a new role as Vice President for Student Experience and Campus Belonging. Additionally, Lisa Brown-Cornelius, the Senior Director of Residence Life, will serve as the Interim Dean of Students through May 31, 2023.��

Crahen has spent four decades in Higher Education and Student Affairs including nearly 20 years at �Ӱ��̳ as Dean of Students, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, and, more recently, as Vice President for Student Affairs.

“Sherri has been a thoughtful and significant contributor to all areas of our institution,” said Miciak.

��

Her mission-driven focus has always been on the health, wellness, safety, and success of our students. She has provided much-needed guidance and perspective as a member of our leadership team.

Crahen has served in many leadership roles at �Ӱ��̳ including co-chair of the COVID-19 Task Force, Threat Assessment Team, and University Committee on the Student Learning Experience. She received a $300,000 grant from the Office of Violence Against Women to focus on providing prevention education and a coordinated response to issues of interpersonal violence. Prior to the establishment of the Title IX Office at �Ӱ��̳, Crahen and other staff in the Dean of Students Office were responsible for managing all Title IX processes. She is a graduate of the Ignatian Colleagues Program and a frequent participant in student retreats and immersions. More recently, she was an advocate for the renovation of the D.J. Lombardo Student Center.

In her new role as Vice President for Student Experience and Campus Belonging, Sigg will oversee the division of Student Affairs in addition to her current DEIB team.

Sigg has extensive experience in both Student Affairs and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging following stops at Miami University, Washington University in St. Louis, and Case Western Reserve University.��

“Naomi has made significant contributions to our campus culture across the last 15 months including the launch of new initiatives like the Mosaic Program and Inclusive Teaching Seminar Series, as well as community partnerships with the Urban League of Greater Cleveland, Hillel International, and the Ohio Diversity Council,” said Miciak.

Her career experiences in Residence Life, Greek Life, Student Engagement, and Multicultural Affairs will help to shape an integration of our important student-facing services with a focus on creating a sense of belonging for all students.

Brown-Cornelius has supported students at �Ӱ��̳ since 2012 and recently completed her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University.
