As part of Ӱ̳'s McCarthy Alumni Weekend celebrating the 60th anniversary of the men's soccer program, Marcello Hernandez ’19, stand-up comedian and current Saturday Night Live cast member, will return to his alma mater for a special Q&A session with students and alumni.

Originally from Miami, Hernandez made a significant impact during his time at Ӱ̳, playing for the men's soccer team as a freshman and sophomore. Although he earned a starting role, he left the team to follow his passion for comedy—a challenging decision that proved crucial to his career success.

Dejan Mladenovic ’06, Head Coach of the men's soccer team, will moderate the Q&A and is enthusiastic about Hernandez's visit and reunion with former teammates.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Marcello back for McCarthy Weekend,” Mladenovic said. “It’s a great opportunity for him to reconnect with his teammates and other alumni. The bond within our group is special, and this weekend promises to be memorable for our program.”

The event will take place on Saturday, September 14, from 5-6 p.m. at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center. It will include a Q&A session between Mladenovic and Hernandez, followed by live student questions.

This visit is made possible thanks to the University Club (U Club), a student-run organization dedicated to bringing talented artists and engaging events to campus.

“For years the U Club has supported the welcome back concert and they have stepped up once again to make this an incredible all-campus event,” said Rory O’Neil ’06, Executive Director of Alumni Engagement. “We’ve hosted so many big names –

Bruce Springsteen, Jim Belushi, Chevy Chase – and it’s inspiring that Hernandez’s visit is being supported by the very alums who made some of those historic visits happen.”

Ӱ̳ students and alumni interested in attending are invited to check their email for registration details.
