Ӱ̳ graduating senior Julia Morris is the recipient of the 2019 NBC/Ӱ̳ “Meet the Press” Fellowship.
The fellowship was first awarded in 2009 in honor of Tim Russert ’72, who passed away in 2008 following more than 16 years at the helm of “Meet the Press.” The University’s Department of Communication also bears his name.
Morris, a political science and psychology double major, is a staff member of , the University’s on-campus radio station. She was also highly involved in residence life and service, contributing to the Writers in Residence program at Ӱ̳. She is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honors society. Morris is the 11th Ӱ̳ student to earn the fellowship since 2009.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work at NBC News,” Morris says. “I hope I can bring a unique approach and perspective to the fellowship, and continue the legacy of Tim Russert and the other fellows.”
The NBC/Ӱ̳ “Meet the Press” Fellowship is awarded to a graduating senior motivated to pursue a career in political journalism. The fellowship is a nine-month position at “,” the top-rated Sunday morning public affairs program and the longest running television program in the world.
