Students returning to campus for the spring semester will have a new destination to congregate in the Lombardo Student Center. Lisa Quine is painting an original mural on the Campus Ministry wall. She’s a local artist who has done murals and other installations in Northeast Ohio and across the country. Some may be familiar with her “Dream Big” mural in Gordon Square.

Jurell Sison, assistant director of Campus Ministry, is the driving force behind the project. He worked with several campus leaders to clearly define the installation as an “Interactive Gratitude Mural.” Sison hopes the art inspires students and strengthens the identity of Ӱ̳. “We want to bring the creativity of the Cleveland art scene here to the Ӱ̳ campus,” he says.

Quine is also drawing inspiration from the project. She can relate to the pressure of student life; she graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in graphic design. “I know firsthand that students process a lot of stress, and if they see this mural and it makes them stop and take a breath, that’s the entire goal behind this project,” she says. Quine expects to complete the mural in the next two weeks and says it will feature an interactive component for students.
